Field note · The care

Choose a care route around the problem.

An in-person visit or a licensed online service is a place to discuss care, not a promise of a particular treatment.

Describe the problem before the product

A discussion can be with an in-person clinician or through telehealth. Telehealth means a visit by a remote method, such as video or an online exchange, rather than sharing a room.

Ask whether the service will assess your concern, discuss other options and explain a decision that does not lead to a prescription. Keep the focus on what you want help with.

Remote care has an assessment standard

The medical boards recommend rules that state boards can use for online care. These recommendations call for online care to meet the standards used for a visit in person. If a needed test or physical examination cannot happen online, the clinician is asked to arrange care elsewhere.

These are professional recommendations, rather than one national law for online visits. The state’s own requirements remain part of the answer.

Location is part of a licence check

The guidance checked September 26, 2026 ties the clinician’s authority to the patient’s location during the visit. A licence or another accepted authority is required there. States have different rules, with narrow exceptions, such as some follow-up visits for an existing patient who is travelling. Name the state where you will be for that appointment. Ask how its clinician is allowed to treat you there.

Neither an online format nor an in-person room changes TB-500’s approval status. The US approval check dated September 30, 2026 found no approved product.

Ask for the clinician’s full name before the discussion and the pharmacy’s name if a medicine is proposed. Use those names for the separate licence checks, then return to the unanswered care questions.
